Why do we experience pleasure and why are pleasurable experiences, from skydiving to eating chocolate, so hard to resist? Prepare yourself for a journey through the brain's pathways of pleasure -- in this interactive show Dr Witchel will show you how your brain reacts to sex, music, thrill seeking and addiction to drugs, and how these pleasurable sensations all depend on arousal, the physiology of the body, and chemicals in the brain.
I have been doing research on pleasure (especially to do with music and emotions) for the past 3 years. In addition to lectures on Pleasure (for which I won the 2004 “Charles Darwin Award” from the BA), for the past three years I have been presenting all day workshops on Pleasure, and for the past two years I have been presenting “Pleasure Night Schools” with new material to broaden the field and create more ways to find pleasure in your life, based on science.
